HVAC MAINTENANCE FAQ

Q: How long should a furnace or AC system last?
A:  It depends on many factors.  Heating and cooling equipment that has not been regularly maintained or has not has regular air filter changes will not last as long as one that has been taken care of.  Other factors that contribute to the life of your system is whether or not it was properly sized to your home. Over-sizing and under-sizing are two big problems that will cause your system to work harder than it needs to and therefore reduces lifespan.

Q: How often should I change my air filters?
A: At a bare minimum, every 6 months is a good rule of thumb. However, if you have large families, pets or someone in your home that has asthma or allergies you should make sure to use a high quality filter and change it more frequently. We’ll evaluate your individual needs and recommend accordingly

Q: When should I schedule maintenance for my furnace and AC?
A: Schedule a yearly maintenance check-up for your furnace and one for your central air conditioner. The end of a heating or cooling system is a good time to schedule. Schedule your air conditioner for late summer or early fall and schedule your furnace maintenance for the end of the season like late spring.
